Team Stride at the Canada Youth Movement

On January 26th, 2019, Stride Muay Thai sent their first ever participants into the 3rd installment of the Canada Youth Movement event.

We actually had 3 members training for the event, but unfortunately one of our Junior's, Mila who was 8 years old at the time did not get matched up. That left us sending 13 year old Nico and 15 year old Noah to the event.

The Canada Youth Movement is a Muay Thai Ontario sanctioned event. It is spearheaded and organized by Joey De Los Reyes of Kombat Arts Training Academy and Rommel Oliveros of Milton Muay Thai. The event is such an amazing avenue for gyms in Ontario to get our Junior members much needed ring experience. The event is a "light contact" event, which means that the strikes are controlled and there is no head contact permitted. This gives the participants that range from 6 years old to 17 years old, a safe environment to test their skills against opponents from different gyms.

The performance and work ethic of Nico and Noah have spread through Stride Muay Thai like wildfire. Subsequent to CYM 3, we have sent teams to participate in CYM 4 and CYM 5. Sending teams of 6 and 4 respectively. Each time our participants get stronger and learn more. The competition brings out the absolute best from our team.

From the experience and confidence gained at the Canada Youth Movement events, 2 Team Stride members actually participated in the 2019 Muay Thai Ontario Provincial Championships. Noah who is featured in our documentary, took home a silver medal. Kayla who participated in CYM 4 & 5 came home with a bronze medal!

The level in our Junior Program (for ages 4-12yrs old) continues to increase. Nico and Noah have sparked a teenage boom at our gym as well.  If you want to bring the best out of your child, make sure you fill out a contact form on our website to book your complimentary trial today.

Lastly, this amazing documentary never would have to come to fruition if not for the amazing work of our Team Stride Muay Thai, resident photographer/videographer/director/producer, man of many talents, Brian K Lee. He put in tireless hours of filming and editing to give you a brief glimpse of the Stride Muay Thai experience, and the journey of our young warriors. Cheers Brian. To many more amazing projects to come.

Without further ado, enjoy "Team Stride Muay Thai at CYM 3"!
